EAST BALI HOTELS

All hotels in East Bali

East Bali Hotels is sometimes referred to as the ‘real Bali’ by foreign visitors. The district of Karangasem, which follows the boundaries of the former regency, contains volcanoes, rice fields, sweeping bays, crashing waves, Balinese villages, water-palaces and a choice of great, Bali style as well as luxury accommodation.

This excursion is best done starting from the east of Bali, for instance from a hotel in Candi Dasa. From Candi Dasa you first drive through Amlapura, one of the major cities of Bali, where you might stop to visit the Puri Kanginan Palace that was the home of the royal family of the Kings of Karangasem until 1966. It is beautiful group of buildings, and you can look through the windows into the sleeping room of the Raja or catch a glimpse of the set of furniture he received as a gift from the Queen of the Netherlands.

HOTEL IN EAST BALI

Hotel East Bali The east of Bali is mainly known for the US Liberty, a war II wreck that lies close to Tulamben. But this is by far not the only thing to be see here. There are many rare animals living in the small reefs and sandy areas close to the wreck. The excellent diving in this area makes it well worth an extended visit, specially for photographers interested in critter diving. Further south around Amuk Bay are several dive sites, very varied, from easy diving on a slope to current swept islands like Gili Selang, Gili Biaha or Tepekong with a good chance to see sharks, Mola Mola sunfishes and other really large animals! Quality holiday time spent in Bali villas offers guests an exclusive retreat to relax and wind down from the pressures of a modern lifestyle.

Getting Around East Bali:
To best enjoy the scenery you might want to hire a car with driver for the day, easy to do in Candi Dasa. Best strategy is to go to a car rental place, negotiate for a car and then say you’ll add on another 60,000rp for a driver, rather than letting them dictate to you what a car and driver will cost. A drive from Candi Dasa to Manggis, up to Putung, Iseh, Sideman, Klungkung and back to Candi Dasa might take a leisurely 2-3 hours allowing for the odd stop to take photos and have a drink. If you are comfortable of a motorbike / scooter, East Bali will be a easy to get to explore. Once you are out as far as Candi Dasa traffic is not bad at all. The only busy road is the one that runs around the coast, with the secondary local roads being quiet and easy to explore at your own pace. Even Tulamben on the far east coast is accessible using Perama bus.

From Amlapura you drive north to Tirtta Gangga, which is a water garden with springs and ponds, and also a big pool where you can swim, if you like to. On the way to Tirtta Gangga you come along a vast expanse of rice terraces. The mountain sides are literally carved with rise fields as far as the eye can see. From Tirtta Gangga you have to drive back to Amlapura and then go through Bebendem and Selat to Rendang from where you can take the road to Besakih and up to the Pura Besakih temple. From the road you have spectacular views of the southeast of Bali. Pura Besakih is the most sacred of all Balinese temples. To be exact, it is a complex of about 30 sanctuaries. Most of them are open only to worshippers, but you can walk around them and look at the statues and the carvings in the split gates just as well from outside. Pura Besakih is built on the foot of Mount Agung that is towering over it but the mountain can only very rarely be seen through the clouds. Others Sites | East Bali Hotels
